What could your day look like?As an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with your line manager to assist in the commercial administration, reporting and performance on a single large project or several smaller schemes.
Responsibilities- Complete an apprenticeship qualification relevant to the role, to suit your current education level. At the end of the programme, you will gain a nationally recognised qualification in this field as well as learning the practical skills and hands-on experience in a supportive environment.
- Join the Trainee Development Programme, with training and tools to develop your skills through a series of modules over an 18-month period followed by a graduation event.
- Participate in creating a safe working environment.
- Use the latest Oracle software tools to support accurate reporting of costs and value to the business unit.
- Assist in the interpretation and critical evaluation of expenditure reports produced by internal cost systems.
- Be involved in the procurement of Subcontract partners including preparation of bid enquiry documentation and critical evaluation of bids.
- Draft Subcontract documentation.
- Apply the principles of ‘Doing the right thing’ in maximising value and profit.
- Support the administration of subcontract works packages including interim assessments of the amount due and change management.
- Assist in the production and issue of commercial notices, to both the Client and Subcontractors, as required by the form of contract and the law.
- Assist in the management of change in accordance with the form of contract, including the production and submission of Compensation Event Quotations and the maintenance of detailed schedules of value.
- Provide information to the Commercial team to assist in the production of monthly payment applications to the Client.
- Liaise with operational and engineering staff to maintain site records.
- Collate and calculate information required to assist the Commercial team in the production and maintenance of a detailed “cost to complete” including schedules of Subcontractor liabilities.
This role is available for a Summer 2026 start, with the possibility of an earlier start date to suit yourself and the business. Apprenticeships are offered from level 3 to degree level fully funded by Galliford Try, tailored to your current education level and course entry requirements.
You must have eligibility to live and work in the UK without restriction and meet the minimum entry requirements to enrol onto an apprenticeship course related to the role. Galliford Try welcomes applications from candidates who would like to work full-time, reduced hours or flexibly; this will be discussed during the recruitment process.
