Job Title:
Quantity Surveyor/Estimator
Location:
Edinburgh & East Lothians
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 (Negotiable depending on experience) + Company Car, Phone, and Additional Benefits
Working Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
- Friday: 8:00am - 1:00pm
- Option for 4-day working week:
Monday to Thursday 8:00am - 6:30pm
Our client, an award-winning building contractor with over a decade of experience across Edinburgh and the East Lothians, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join their dynamic team. Key Responsibilities- Tendering & Pricing:
Utilise bespoke software to accurately quote tenders and respond to price enquiries, developing and maintaining the company's reputation by securing business opportunities. - Client Communication:
Engage with clients regarding costs, price alterations, and any financial variations, ensuring transparent and effective communication at all stages of the project. - Quality Assurance:
Oversee the quality and timeliness of service delivery, acting as the primary interface between the company and clients to instil confidence and strengthen relationships. - Project Oversight:
Take the lead on commercial services, reviewing and reporting on all aspects of ongoing projects, ensuring they remain within budget and on schedule. - Financial Administration:
Manage project accounts, variations, and internal job costings, ensuring that all services, resources, and fees are effectively administered. - Contract Review & Negotiation:
Review contracts to ensure terms are beneficial to both parties, and effectively communicate with clients to ensure mutual understanding and agreement. - Collaboration:
Maintain professional communication with clients, subcontractors, and project managers regarding financial applications, variations, and commercial aspects of the projects. - Risk Management:
Understand and address construction risks, applying commercial management principles to safeguard project viability.
- Proven experience in a similar Quantity Surveyor/Estimator role, preferably within the commercial and construction industries.
- Strong understanding of construction risk and commercial management.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Familiarity with bespoke software for pricing and tendering is advantageous.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
