Site Manager - Water & Wastewater

The Role

On behalf of our client we are recruiting an experienced Site Managers to support the delivery of major water, wastewater and civil engineering projects across Scotland. Based from Edinburgh, the role will involve regular travel to project sites throughout East and West Scotland. You will take responsibility for the safe, efficient and successful delivery of works across a long-term portfolio of infrastructure, capital maintenance and asset improvement projects.

You will lead site teams, coordinate subcontractors and work closely with Project Managers and wider delivery teams to ensure projects are completed safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of water, wastewater and civil engineering projects.
  • Lead site teams and subcontractors across individual projects and wider programmes of work.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance.
  • Carry out site inspections, audits and workforce engagement activities.
  • Promote a positive safety and quality culture across all work fronts.
  • Plan labour, materials, plant and subcontractor requirements in line with the construction programme.
  • Monitor progress, costs, productivity and project efficiency targets.
  • Identify potential risks, delays and Early Warning matters at the earliest opportunity.
  • Manage subcontractor packages and ensure works are delivered to the required specifications.
  • Coordinate private land access, highway possessions and site logistics.
  • Maintain positive relationships with local communities, landowners, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Provide regular progress updates and reports to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure accurate site records, documentation and project information are maintained.
About You

You will be an experienced construction professional with a strong background in water, wastewater, infrastructure or civil engineering projects.

You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous Site Management experience within the construction or infrastructure sector.
  • Experience delivering water, wastewater or civil engineering projects.
  • A civil engineering degree or another relevant construction qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
  • Commercial awareness, including cost control, programme management and Early Warning processes.
  • Experience managing site teams, subcontractors, materials and project resources.
  • Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Flexibility to travel across East and West Scotland.
