Graduate​/Assistant Building Surveyor; Building Consultancy

We are looking for an enthusiastic Graduate / Assistant Building Surveyor to join a growing building surveying consultancy in Edinburgh.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or early-career surveyor looking to develop their experience within an established and supportive consultancy environment. You will work alongside experienced building surveyors on a varied portfolio of commercial and residential projects, gaining hands‑on experience across the full range of building surveying services. Working as part of the Edinburgh team, your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with building surveys, condition surveys and defect investigations
• Supporting the preparation of Schedules of Condition, Schedules of Dilapidations and other technical reports
• Assisting with planned and reactive maintenance advice
• Supporting contract administration and project monitoring on refurbishment and repair projects
• Carrying out site inspections and recording building defects and condition
• Assisting with the preparation of specifications, schedules and tender documentation
• Liaising with clients, contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders
• Undertaking research and providing technical input into reports and recommendations
• Supporting senior surveyors with a variety of professional instructions
• Developing your knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, standards and best practice

We are looking for someone who is keen to build a long-term career in building surveying and has a genuine interest in the built environment.

You will ideally have:

• A degree in Building Surveying, Building/Construction, Property or a related subject
• Or be working towards / have recently completed an appropriate degree
• An interest in working towards RICS chartership
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
• Good organisational and time-management skills
• A willingness to learn and take responsibility
• Confidence in dealing with clients and colleagues
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
• A full UK driving licence would be advantageous

Previous surveying experience is beneficial but not essential. We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative and a willingness to develop.
