BJM Design Ltd specializes in refurbishment, fit-out, and design-and-build projects across private and public sectors, including health, commercial, education, leisure, and hospitality.

With an in-house manufacturing workshop, the team designs and produces custom pieces that keep projects on schedule and within budget. The company takes a personal and flexible approach, guiding clients from project inception through to completion to achieve their desired outcome.

The Site Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Edinburgh, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of construction and fit-out projects. This role involves managing site activities, coordinating subcontractors and suppliers, and ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to the required quality standards. The Site Manager will monitor progress against project plans, manage resources, and maintain accurate site records and reports.

They will act as the main point of contact on site, liaising with clients, project managers, and design teams to resolve issues and support effective communication. The role also includes enforcing health and safety policies, conducting site inspections, and contributing to continuous improvement in site processes and project delivery.

• Experience in site management within construction, refurbishment, or fit-out projects, ideally with exposure to bespoke joinery or interior fit-out.
• Strong project coordination skills, including scheduling, resource planning, and progress reporting to keep projects on track and within budget.
• Solid understanding of health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and site compliance requirements.
• Effective communication and relationship-building skills for working with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Proven ability to lead on-site teams, motivate personnel, and resolve day-to-day operational challenges.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality standards in workmanship and site presentation.
• Proficiency in basic IT tools (e.g., email, spreadsheets, project documentation) and familiarity with construction-related software is beneficial.
• Relevant construction or site management qualifications (e.g., degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience), with professional certifications such as SMSTS/SSSTS, CSCS, or similar considered an advantage.
• Knowledge of UK building regulations, industry best practices, and experience working across sectors such as commercial, leisure, hospitality, or healthcare is desirable.
