You'll work on a varied range of building surveying projects for both public and private sector clients, covering everything from condition surveys and building defects through to refurbishment, maintenance and project delivery.
Working alongside an experienced team of property professionals, you'll manage your own projects, build strong relationships with clients and support the development of junior colleagues. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to broaden their experience within a multi-disciplinary consultancy, take on more responsibility and continue progressing towards RICS chartership.
Key Responsibilities- You'll carry out measured surveys and prepare accurate floor plans, elevations and technical drawings using AutoCAD, alongside undertaking building condition surveys, schedules of condition and defect inspections.
- You'll manage allocated building surveying projects from initial instruction through to completion, including preparing specifications, tender documentation, statutory consent applications and contract administration.
- A key part of the role will involve identifying building defects, recommending practical solutions and preparing detailed reports, cost estimates and planned maintenance programmes.
- You'll also support the delivery of refurbishment and alteration projects, monitoring budgets, timescales and quality to ensure work is completed to a high standard.
- Working closely with clients, contractors and fellow consultants, you'll help keep projects running smoothly, resolve issues as they arise and provide a professional, responsive service.
- You'll also contribute to CDM documentation, including pre-construction information and health and safety files, while supporting senior colleagues with resource planning, project coordination and mentoring junior team members.
- You'll have a degree in Building Surveying, ideally RICS-accredited, or be working towards a relevant qualification, alongside practical experience gained within a building surveying consultancy.
- You'll need to be confident using AutoCAD and carrying out measured surveys, with a good understanding of building construction, refurbishment, alterations and the diagnosis of defects in existing buildings.
- Experience managing building surveying projects, preparing technical reports and working with clients and contractors will be important, along with the ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of their work. You'll have strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail and a practical approach to solving problems.
- You'll enjoy working as part of a collaborative team, be keen to continue developing your technical knowledge and have a genuine interest in progressing towards RICS chartership.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential.
