NPD Designer – Alconbury

Monday – Friday, full time permanent

Up to £40,000 DOE

We are looking for a pro-active, forward-thinking NPD Designer to support the delivery of New Product Development (NPD) and existing projects. The role focuses on creating innovative, high-quality products aligned to customer briefs and business strategy, while ensuring smooth coordination of design processes from concept through to launch.

This position suits a creative and organised individual passionate about product development and bringing new ideas to market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative design concepts aligned to customer and category strategies.
  • Interpret briefs and deliver creative, commercially viable solutions.
  • Create high-quality product samples and prototypes for review and launch.
  • Research trends and apply consumer/category insights to product development.
  • Present concepts and materials for internal and stakeholder feedback.
  • Support project timelines, critical paths, and key development milestones.
  • Ensure smooth progression from concept through to production readiness.
  • Provide administrative support including packaging briefs, artwork approvals, and documentation.
  • Prepare samples and materials for customer presentations, workshops, and range reviews.
  • Maintain NPD studio resources, manage materials/trackers, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive operational excellence.
The Ideal Candidate Essential
  • Experience in product design or development, ideally within FMCG or a customer-focused environment. Floristry experience highly desirable.
  • Creative mindset with understanding of design and development processes.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn relevant design or project management tools.
  • Delivers consistently high standards and takes accountability.
  • Adapts to challenges with a solution-focused approach.
Desirable
  • Experience with in floristry, horticulture, gifting, or similar sectors.
  • Awareness of packaging development, artwork processes, and sample production.
  • Understanding of category insights and consumer trends.
