Job Summary

We are looking for a creative, organised and proactive Freelance Social Media Manager to help us tell the Story Tellers story, grow audiences and increase engagement across our social media channels.

Job Description

Working closely with the Arts & Culture Manager, you will lead the creation and delivery of Story Tellers' social media activity, ensuring our content is engaging, inspiring and reaches a wide range of audiences.

You will play a key role in capturing the energy and impact of our programme, bringing our projects, artists and communities to life through creative storytelling across our social media platforms.

You will also work closely with our external communications agency, ensuring social media activity is coordinated, messaging is aligned and opportunities are maximised across all communications activity.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who understands the arts and cultural sector and is passionate about using social media to connect people with creative opportunities.

This contract is for 2 days per week on flexible working arrangements.

Job Requirements
  • Experience managing social media channels professionally, ideally within the arts, culture, heritage or charity sectors.
  • Strong copywriting skills and the ability to create engaging content for different audiences.
  • Experience creating social media content, including photography, video and short-form content.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Linked In.
  • Experience using social media scheduling and analytics tools.
  • The ability to capture authentic stories and communicate the impact of creative projects.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the Arts & Culture Manager, external communications agency, artists, partners and communities.
  • A passion for arts, culture and community engagement.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Management

  • Work with the Arts & Culture Manager to develop and deliver a social media strategy for Story Tellers.
  • Plan, create and schedule engaging content across Story Tellers social media channels.
  • Develop monthly content plans aligned with programme activity, events and key milestones.
  • Manage the day‑to‑day running of social media channels, including audience engagement, comments and messages.
  • Create compelling written, visual and video content that showcases the impact of Story Tellers.
  • Ensure all social media content reflects the Story Tellers brand, tone of voice and values.
  • Work alongside the external communications agency to ensure consistency of messaging, campaign planning and effective promotion of Story Tellers activity.

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Attend key Story Tellers events, workshops, performances and activities to capture content, including photographs, videos, interviews and audience experiences.
