Job Description & How to Apply Below

The DDU is the specialist dental division of the MDU and provides services to dental members in the UK and Ireland. These services include indemnity, claims handling and a range of advisory services. One of the hallmarks of the DDU is the quality of our advisory services to members, provided by our team of Dento-legal Advisers, Dental Telephone Advisers, and DCP Advisers, along with in‑house and external solicitors.

We wish to appoint additional Dental Telephone Advisers on a part‑time basis (2 days per week) to our specialist team to provide telephone advice to our dental members and assist in the development of our published materials and educational offering to members.

This post would be a fixed term contract (12 months). This can be reviewed with a view to extending, but the ideal candidate should have ambition to progress towards a Dento‑legal Adviser role in the future.

The post is only open to dentists with a qualification registered with the GDC. The successful candidate is likely to have extensive knowledge of primary dental care in the UK, together with a strong interest in Dento‑legal matters. A higher qualification is desirable but not essential.

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Providing advice to members empathetically, promptly, succinctly and efficiently by telephone.
  • To prepare articles and provide information for use on the DDU’s website, e‑journal and social media channels and to assist in the development of the DDU’s educational materials, under the direction of the Dental Education Lead.
  • Provide additional support to the case handling teams in the form of advice on clinical matters or contracts as and when instructed.

Advisers are home‑based within the UK but some of the training may be delivered in‑person at our London offices.

The successful candidate will need to be highly self‑motivated, with the ability to prioritise their workloads within a busy environment. Excellent communication, interpersonal and written skills are essential. The ability to grasp complex information quickly is a must. Above average IT skills are a pre‑requisite.

Please follow the link to the application site. Please include a covering letter to your CV (one combined document), addressed to Simon Kidd (Head of the DDU), setting out why you are suitable for the role.
