Assistant Interior Designer – Sustainable Construction Delivery Team

The City of Edinburgh Council is looking to recruit a dynamic, client‑focused, personable and technically strong Assistant Interior Designer with previous people, design, project and contract management experience. You will be part of a growing team of Interior Designers within the in‑house multi‑discipline design service.
CEC is leading the way for the public sector in the adoption of low and zero carbon technologies. CEC has adopted Passiv Haus as the default standard for all new build projects and is developing a carbon‑focused approach for a large number of upcoming Retro Fit refurbishment projects. This leads to a portfolio of interesting and market‑leading projects requiring high levels of technical understanding.
Key Responsibilities- Manage client and user expectations within the financial limits of project programmes.
- Deliver complex and innovative programmes of work in new build and existing operational buildings as part of a professional design team.
- Prepare and produce design drawings, specifications and specifications in Revit, Revit Family Creation, COBie Data, MS Office, AutoCAD and other related software packages.
- Provide input to Passive Haus design for new buildings and Ener Phit retrofit design for existing and operational buildings.
- Lead consultation sessions with stakeholders and client groups, presenting in a diplomatic and considered manner.
- Design qualification and membership (or working towards membership) of a related professional body.
- Post‑qualification experience in design and project/contract management.
- Experience working with a team of professional designers and project managers, both internal and external.
- Working knowledge in Revit, Revit Family Creation, COBie Data, MS Office, AutoCAD.
- Experience with Passive Haus design for new buildings and Ener Phit retrofit design (desired).
- Experience with in the field of design for educational buildings is a plus.
