Rankin Fraser Landscape Architecture is seeking a talented and motivated Chartered Landscape Architect to join our friendly Edinburgh studio.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across Scotland and the UK, including residential-led master planning, public realm, education, active travel, green infrastructure, and regeneration projects.
We are looking for a confident designer with strong technical capability, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach to project delivery.
The RoleYou will play a key role in the design and delivery of landscape architecture projects from concept through to construction, working closely with clients, consultants, and the wider project team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing creative and technically robust landscape designs across a range of project scales
- Preparing high-quality drawing packages, visual materials, and presentation documents using Vectorworks and Adobe Creative Suite
- Supporting project delivery from early concept design through planning, technical design, and construction
- Liaising with clients, architects, engineers, planners, contractors, and other consultants
- Undertaking site visits, assessments, and construction-stage input where required
- Coordinating project programmes, deliverables, and budgets
- Ensuring designs respond to planning policy, environmental considerations, and technical requirements
- Contributing to planting design, public realm detailing, landscape specifications, and maintenance strategies
You will ideally have:
- Chartered Membership of the Landscape Institute (CMLI)
- Proven UK landscape architecture experience with a strong portfolio of built and planning-stage work
- Strong proficiency in Vectorworks (essential)
- Good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
- Sound understanding of UK planning, technical design, and construction processes
- Experience preparing planning packages, technical detailing, and specifications
- Strong planting knowledge and appreciation of sustainable landscape design
- Excellent written, verbal, and graphic communication skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple live projects
