About this opportunityWe’re looking for an experienced User Experience Designer to join our team in Edinburgh. This is a unique opportunity to define and enhance the journeys in which we engage and build relationships with our business customers, while supporting them with the right products, tools and services to meet their needs. You’ll work collaboratively with a full design team, take ownership of your design output, present your work to stakeholders, and adapt designs based on feedback from user research and usability testing.
Responsibilities- Skillfully craft end‑to‑end user experience, bringing together cohesive journeys, creatively using components from a central design system to balance content and UI elements on screen.
- Bring designs to life with prototyping software such as Sketch, InVision, Figma, Axure, or Adobe XD.
- Balance business requirements with user needs; gather research and rationale to align stakeholders on individual user needs, and push back diplomatically when necessary to favor the customer.
- Adapt to technical constraints across platforms while guiding the best possible end‑user experience.
- Advocate inclusive and accessible design for users of diverse ages, backgrounds and technical abilities.
- Demonstrated experience in User Experience/Interaction Design.
- Strong experience as an Interaction Designer or UX Designer, possibly from a visual design background.
- Full ownership of interaction‑design projects.
- Excellent prototyping and layout skills communicated clearly to internal customers and development teams.
- Comfortable using existing design systems, proactively recommending improvements and extensions.
- Ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative research to inform the design process.
- Experience working in a complex landscape, ideally financial services.
- Collaborative mindset to work closely and quickly with a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Strong advocacy for customer inclusivity and accessibility.
Our focus is to ensure we’re inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms. We aim to make everyone feel they belong and can perform at their best, regardless of background, identity or culture. We were one of the first major organisations to set diversity goals for senior roles, create a menopause health package, and a dedicated Working with Cancer initiative.
We especially welcome applications from under‑represented groups. We’re disability confident, and we will make reasonable adjustments to our recruitment processes if required.
- Generous pension contribution up to 15%.
- Discretionary annual performance‑related bonus.
- Share schemes including free shares.
- Benefits to adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping.
- 30 days holiday, plus bank holidays.
- Range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies.
