Design Manager

Client information

We are working with a leading construction organisation delivering a major 130m project and are looking for an experienced Design Manager to join the project team.

• Manage and coordinate the design process throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, consultants, specialist subcontractors and supply-chain partners.
• Ensure design information is delivered on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
• Lead design coordination meetings, reviews and technical workshops.
• Identify and resolve design and technical issues to minimise impact on the construction programme.
• Work closely with the Project Manager, Commercial, Planning and Construction teams to ensure effective project delivery.
• Monitor design progress and ensure all technical information is available to support construction activities.

• Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor or construction environment.
• Experience working on complex, high-value construction projects.
• Strong technical knowledge and understanding of the design and construction process.
• Experience managing consultants, designers, specialist subcontractors and supply-chain partners.
• Strong understanding of design coordination, technical approvals and design risk management.
• Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder-management skills.
• Good knowledge of UK construction standards, Building Regulations and CDM requirements.
• Relevant degree or professional qualification in Construction, Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline is desirable.

• 65,000 - 75,000 salary, depending on experience.
