Client information

We are working with a leading construction organisation delivering a major £130m project and are looking for an experienced Design Manager to join the project team.

Design Manager roles and responsibilities

Manage and coordinate the design process throughout the project lifecycle.

Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, consultants, specialist subcontractors and supply-chain partners.

Ensure design information is delivered on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Lead design coordination meetings, reviews and technical workshops.

Identify and resolve design and technical issues to minimise impact on the construction programme.

Work closely with the Project Manager, Commercial, Planning and Construction teams to ensure effective project delivery.

Monitor design progress and ensure all technical information is available to support construction activities.

Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor or construction environment.

Experience working on complex, high-value construction projects.

Strong technical knowledge and understanding of the design and construction process.

Experience managing consultants, designers, specialist subcontractors and supply-chain partners.

Strong understanding of design coordination, technical approvals and design risk management.

Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder-management skills.

Good knowledge of UK construction standards, Building Regulations and CDM requirements.

Relevant degree or professional qualification in Construction, Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline is desirable.
