Applications are welcome for the above Permanent/, full‑time (40 hours per week) post based in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. It is anticipated that the position will be based between the Department of Clinical Neurosciences (on the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh site) and the Western General Hospital. The successful candidate may also be required to work at any of the other NHS Lothian sites.
PostSummary
This is a newly created consultant neurologist post, which will comprise a mix of general neurology, epilepsy and neuro‑oncology work. In addition, it will include liaison with acute medicine services at the Western General Hospital.
Within general neurology the post holder will contribute to general neurology services through outpatient clinics (including a dedicated “hot” rapid access neurology clinic for referrals from acute medicine at the Western General), ward referrals and on‑call duties.
From a subspecialty perspective, the post holder will be expected to run specialist outpatient clinics in epilepsy and neuro‑oncology, contribute to EEG and video telemetry reporting, and be an active member of the epilepsy surgery MDT. The post holder will also be the primary neurologist liaising with haematology services at the Western General in patients with neurological complications of CAR‑T therapy and stem cell transplantation in neurology.
It is anticipated that the post‑holder will contribute to the ‘on‑call’ neurology service (currently a 1:11 rota).
