EligibilityApplicants must have full GMC Registration, a licence to practice and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within six months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded.
Non‑UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
This permanent, full‑time (40 hours per week) post is located at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People. It is a full‑time, substantive Consultant post in Spinal Surgery at this nationally designated centre, available from 1 August 2026.
The post requires training in paediatric and adult spinal deformity surgery. Surgical activity is based at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, with some outpatient activity at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Glasgow, and planned expansion to further satellite areas in Scotland.
