Locum Consultant in Acute & General Medicine interest in Diabetes

Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded.

Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

Applications are welcome for the above Permanent/Fixed Term, full time (40 hours per week) post based in Hospital.

This post is based in the Western General hospital Edinburgh and combines General Medicine activity with specialty sessions in Diabetes and Endocrinology and includes;

• general medicine receiving activity
• downstream care of general medical patients in the general medical wards
• general diabetes and endocrinology clinics, with opportunities to contribute to a subspeciality clinic depending on candidate's interests (to a total of 4PA of specialty time WTE).
• potential for sessions in the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) department or in the Emergency Medical Assessment Unit (MAUE).

This post will be predominantly based at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. You may also be required to work at any of NHS Edinburgh and the Lothian’s sites. Annualised contributions to the out of hours aspect of the acute medical receiving rota have a reciprocal amount of non clinical time. This would be calculated and agreed with the Clinical Director.
