Consultant in Reproductive Medicine

Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded.

Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, full time (40 hours per week) post based in Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

The post holder will join a team of five other consultants in reproductive medicine. The post holder will be subspecialist trained in reproductive medicine and have a wide experience in assisted conception procedures and management of couples of varying complexity undergoing IVF treatment. The postholder is expected to be aware of the regulatory requirements of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA).

The postholder will be expected to work collaboratively with the other consultants within EFC and with other disciplines involved in the management of patients undergoing fertility treatment including assisted conception treatment. The successful applicant will be involved in the training of junior doctors and nursing staff in carrying out pelvic ultrasound scans in the Centre. He/she will be expected to have wide scanning experience of complex cases and clinical management of patients undergoing fertility treatment including assisted conception treatment.

The successful candidate will be involved in the recruitment of sperm and oocyte donors and support the nursing team with the ovulation induction and donor insemination service.
