The vacancy is for a full time speciality doctor working into the eating disorders team based at West Park Hospital (inpatient unit) and Imperial Avenue, Stockton on Tees (community). This post is based at Parkside Mental Health Resource Centre,Middlesbrough.

Birch Ward at West Park Hospital is a specialist eating disorder unit. It is a 15bedded unit which accepts admissions from across the North East and Cumbria.

The unit provides a specialist multidisciplinary treatment programme for adults with severe eating disorders, including complex patients with psychiatric and physical comorbidity.

Towork as part of the ward multidisciplinary team attending the daily ward report out.

Toensure robust assessments of new patients including the completion of full psychiatric histories, review of previous notes, mental state examinations and physical examinations where appropriate.

Toreview patients and treatment plans as appropriate.

To participate in formulation meetings.

To maintain accurate and clear records using the CITO system.

To communicate with staff, patients and their carers in a timely and effective manner.

Toliaise with other professional staff and agencies including the completion of discharge summaries.

Toensure the practice of safe medicines management.

To work within framework of CPA

We are one of the largest specialist mental health and learning disabilities trusts in the country operating from sites in Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York and Selby. We provide a range inpatient and community services to people living in County Durham, the Tees Valley, Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale, Harrogate, Hambleton and Richmondshire. We also provide additional specialist services to other parts of Northern England.

Psychiatrists are essential contributors to our mental health teams. Service users expect and are justified to expect collaborative relationships with dedicated psychiatrists who work consistently as part of effective services. • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
• Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
• Approved under S12 of MHA OR able to achieve within 6 months of appointment
• In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice

• Able to demonstrate good clinical skills and knowledge in psychiatry with bio-psycho-social perspective
• Able to demonstrate good clinical communication skills showing empathy and sensitivity
• Person-centred and recovery focused
• Postgraduate experience in the relevant specialty

• Able to undertake duties under MHA and MCA
