The University of Edinburgh has officially announced the Glenmore Postgraduate Scholarship 2026, a prestigious and fully funded opportunity designed to support outstanding postgraduate students pursuing advanced medical and health-related studies.

Available for the 2026–2027 academic session, this Glenmore scholarship targets high-achieving candidates who demonstrate strong academic merit, leadership potential, and a clear commitment to contributing to healthcare development in their home regions. With a particular focus on applicants from Africa and other eligible developing countries, the Glenmore Scholarship stands out as a transformative pathway into world-class medical education at one of the UK’s most respected universities.

The Glenmore Postgraduate Scholarship 2026 offers comprehensive financial support to selected candidates. A total of three scholarships will be awarded, each covering 100% of tuition fees for the full duration of the chosen postgraduate programme
. Importantly, for programmes that include officially listed “Additional Programme Costs” on the University of Edinburgh degree finder, these costs will also be fully covered under the scholarship. This funding structure ensures that recipients can focus entirely on their academic and professional development without the burden of tuition-related expenses.

The scholarship is open to applicants who have secured admission for the 2026–2027 academic year to one of the eligible postgraduate medical, health, and life sciences programmes offered by the University of Edinburgh. Both online part-time programmes (three years) and on-campus full-time programmes (one year) are included.

Eligible online programmes span a wide range of clinical and public health disciplines, including Critical Care, Clinical Education, Clinical Trials, Epidemiology, Global Health and Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, Surgical Sciences, Cancer Biology and Precision Oncology, Family Medicine, and Public Health, among others. These programmes are specifically designed for working professionals seeking advanced qualifications while remaining active in their healthcare systems.

Eligible on-campus programmes include MSc Human Anatomy, MSc Science Communication and Public Engagement, multiple MSc (by Research) pathways in Biomedical Sciences, Integrative Neuroscience, Reproductive Sciences, Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Repair, as well as the MPH Public Health programme.

Applicants must already hold an offer of admission to an eligible programme and should have accepted, or be intending to accept, that offer. Preference is given to candidates holding an unconditional offer at the time of the scholarship deadline.

The Glenmore Medical Postgraduate Scholarship is awarded based on academic excellence and the strength of a personal statement
. Candidates must have achieved, or expect to achieve, the overseas equivalent of a UK first-class honours degree
. Priority is given to applicants who have not previously had the opportunity to study at Master’s level

Applicants must be currently domiciled in one of the eligible countries defined using the DAC List of ODA Recipients for 2026–2027. The University of Edinburgh determines domicile based on the country of ordinary residence, and only applicants from the explicitly listed eligible countries are considered.

A core part of the application is a personal statement (maximum 3,500 characters) addressing three key areas: motivation for choosing the University of Edinburgh and the selected programme, the anticipated impact of the programme on the applicant’s career and personal development, and how the acquired knowledge and skills will be used to benefit their community, region, or country. The scholarship places strong emphasis on applicants who intend to apply their training in regions where advanced medical expertise is most needed.
