Responsible for planning instruction and/or adaption of the education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Instructs individuals and groups in special education skill areas.
- Plans curriculum, lessons, and special ed programs and teaching methods.
- Evaluates student progress based on papers submitted, test scores and observations.
- Monitors student progress in and outside the special education room.
- Maintains the physical environment of the classroom.
- Determines goals, objectives and directions based on work output and observation.
- Prepares report cards, educational records, IEPC forms, classroom observation records, and other forms.
Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCETeaching certificate with appropriate special education endorsement (PMD/TMD/Severe Disabilities).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSTeaching certificate with appropriate special education endorsement (PMD/TMD/Severe Disabilities).
LANGUAGE SKILLS- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.

Such requirements would include, but are not limited to: lifting students, some of whom are of significant weight and age, and may also include lifting items such as wheelchairs and equipment.
