Location: City of Edinburgh

Pupil Support Worker – Braidburn School

Salary: £27,257 - £29,850 (pro‑rata for part‑time and sessional).

Hours:

28.5 per week, 39 weeks sessional.

Working pattern: 8:45 am – 3:45 pm Monday to Thursday and 8:45 am – 12:30 pm Friday, Term Time only.

We are looking for conscientious, committed candidates with excellent inter‑personal and communication skills. It is essential that candidates have a flexible mindset and can use their own initiative. This active role includes elements of personal care requiring patience and a caring, practical nature. The successful candidate will need the ability to stay calm under pressure and be solution focused. There will be many training opportunities to support working with children and young people.

Previous experience of working in a school would be desirable.

Policy:
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of three months or more outside the UK in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.

The check must be provided. An unconditional offer and commencement will be subject to satisfactory pre‑employment checks.

Benefits and working conditions:
The role is scheduled for term time only; PSAs do not work during the 12 weeks of school holidays, but salary is paid in 12 equal monthly payments. There are opportunities to work in a holiday hub for those wishing to work during holidays. The post is subject to review and has a mobility clause allowing the possibility of being moved to another school.
