Location: City of Edinburgh

Teacher of Music - Fixed term until 30/06/2028

Kaimes School, a secondary special school in the southeast of the City of Edinburgh serving 96 young people, many with Autism and additional support needs.

Salary & Hours

Salary: £35,022 - £52,740 (pro‑rata for part‑time).

Hours:

30.45 per week, 52 weeks (Fixed Term Contract).

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging music lessons from Early Level to National 4, supporting communication, creativity, confidence and wellbeing.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with learners.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a supportive staff team and contribute to wider school life.
  • Support learners within a Base Class model, using column classes for Senior Phase learners.
  • Contribute to the success of Music as a popular subject choice and attainment of National qualifications.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Teaching qualification and experience delivering music in a special/secondary setting.
  • Experience working with young people with complex additional needs desirable.
  • Strong inclusive values and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work within a small class size model of 6 students.
Other Information

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out of the UK in the last 5 years, an overseas criminal record check will be required.
