Position: Vacancy: Teacher of Politics

Ruthin School is seeking a Teacher of Politics to join our Faculty of Humanities from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire Year 13 students through high‑quality teaching of the Edexcel A Level Politics specification.

About the role

The Teacher of Politics will deliver the Edexcel 9PL08 specification to Year 13 students, supporting them to achieve outstanding academic outcomes and progress to leading universities in the UK and overseas.

Responsibilities

Planning and delivering engaging, challenging lessons; assessing and monitoring student progress; contributing to the development of teaching and learning within the Humanities Faculty; and working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure students are effectively taught the curriculum. The role also involves maintaining high professional standards and contributing to the wider life of the school.

Contract and benefits

Contract type:
Fixed term, 1 year (until 31st August 2027) |

Hours:

Part‑time, 0.4 FTE (equivalent to two days per week, preferably spread over four to five days) | Salary: £28,834 – £45,496 pa depending on experience |

Start date:

September 2026

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant field
  • Proven track record of teaching A Level
  • Experience of working in an international setting
  • The ability to adapt teaching style to suit a diverse student body
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE)
  • Proven track record of high achievement and examination success
