We are seeking an inspirational and forward‑thinking Lead Teacher of Computer Science & Digital Skills for a prestigious, historic independent all‑through day and boarding school for girls located in Edinburgh. This is an exceptional middle leadership opportunity to shape a coherent, modern K‑12 (Junior School to Upper
6) digital curriculum. Beyond traditional classroom teaching, you will play a pivotal role in leading the school’s whole‑school Digital and e‑Learning Strategy. You will also head a flagship, pan‑Scotland youth computing initiative championed by the school, collaborating directly with major global tech industry partners (including Amazon, Skyscanner, and RBS) to promote and champion female pathways into technology.
- Curriculum Leadership & Academic Excellence
- Curriculum Development:
Design, deliver, and manage an innovative Computer Science and Digital Skills curriculum from Junior School to Senior tiers, integrating emerging technologies (such as AI and advanced coding) to ensure long‑term relevance. - Tailored Learning:
Foster an enthusiastic, practical learning environment within a dedicated, state‑of‑the‑art computing lab setting, specifically tailored to support high‑quality learning in a girls‑first environment. - Student Support:
Monitor, assess, and progress student performance in line with national standards, providing tailored strategies for students with additional support needs (ASN) and examination access arrangements.
- Curriculum Development:
- Industry Partnership & Regional Outreach
- Lead Flagship Events:
Actively contribute to and lead Scotland’s premier school computing event hosted by the school, engaging 500+ pupils from over 16 schools alongside multinational tech partners. - Drive Tech Diversity:
Grow community outreach projects (including specialised workshop programmes) and develop lesson resources for specialists across Scotland to champion female representation in STEM.
- Lead Flagship Events:
- Whole‑School e‑Learning Strategy
- Digital Transformation:
Serve as the e‑Learning Coordinator for Senior sectors, working closely with the Digital and IT Strategy Groups to ensure the school's technological ecosystem reflects global best practices. - Staff Empowerment:
Provide ongoing professional development, demonstrations, and training to staff to seamlessly embed e‑learning platforms into daily teaching. - Institutional Accreditation:
Maintain personal certified educator status and lead the academic faculty through official institution‑wide tech accreditations.
- Digital Transformation:
- Qualifications:
A recognised teaching qualification with a proven track record of teaching Computer Science and ICT up to advanced secondary school levels. - Leadership Capability:
Strong middle‑management skills or clear potential to lead a dynamic subject area and influence cross‑curricular digital integration. - EdTech Expertise:
Passion for educational technology (EdTech) with the ability to confidently implement, evaluate, and train others on modern blended learning platforms. - Communication
Skills:
