Location: City of Edinburgh

Teacher of Music – Fixed term until 30 June 2028 – Kaimes School.

Salary: £35,022–£52,740 (pro‑rated for part‑time) /

Hours:

30.45 per week, 52 weeks (fixed‑term contract).

Overview

Kaimes School is a secondary special school in the southeast of Edinburgh that caters for 96 young people, most of whom have a diagnosis of Autism and other additional support needs. Music is an integral part of our curriculum and wider school life, supporting communication, creativity, confidence and wellbeing.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging music lessons from Early Level to National 4 for learners with additional support needs.
  • Develop and implement learning plans that build positive, trusting relationships with learners.
  • Collaborate with a highly supportive staff team and contribute to the wider school life.
  • Use a Base Class model of classes of 6, tailoring instruction to diverse learner groups.
Qualifications
  • Qualified to teach music or a related subject.
  • Experience working with pupils with complex additional needs – desirable; strong inclusive values and willingness to learn are also required.
  • Commitment to high‑quality learning experiences for every learner.
  • PVG Scheme update check required; a post‑graduation criminal record check will be required if international travel has occurred.
