Position: ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Tutors
Location: City of Edinburgh

Overview

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Tutors, City Wide. Salary: £25.29 per hour.

Hours:

0 per week.

We are seeking professional and dedicated ESOL Tutors to join our tertiary staffing pool and deliver high‑quality teaching in our community‑based adult ESOL classes. Classes are delivered at levels from Absolute Beginner (including ESOL Literacies) to Upper Intermediate. Learners may have limited formal education. Tutors are encouraged to use a learner‑centred, social practice approach.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver 2.5‑hour sessions, including 2 hours of teaching/contact and 30 minutes of preparation and administration.
  • Travel to various venues outside the City Centre as required (e.g., South Queensferry, West Pilton, Moredun, Craigmillar, Granton, Leith, Oxgangs, Wester Hailes).
  • Teach classes Monday to Friday in mornings, afternoons, evenings and occasionally on Saturdays.
Requirements

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates must join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an applicant has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out of the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check is required.
