School OverviewLiberton High School is a non‑denominational secondary school with a roll of approximately 900 pupils, working in partnership with our associated primaries of Craigour Park, Gilmerton, Liberton and Prestonfield to serve our local community in South East Edinburgh.
We have a rising roll projected to peak at approximately 1100 within the next four years. We are excited to be moving into a new, purpose‑built Community Campus, which is due to be completed in Summer 2026.
The leadership team comprises the Head Teacher, three Deputy Head Teachers, and a Business Manager. We have a complement of 65 teaching staff and 26 support staff. Our dedicated staff are committed to supporting our young people to achieve their potential.
RoleSummary
We are looking for a creative and innovative individual who will be able to apply their skills, knowledge and experience to support our pupils to achieve success within our English, Media and ESOL faculty as Teacher of English (and BGE Drama).
Responsibilities- Teach English to pupils across the English, Media and ESOL faculty.
- Teach BGE Drama (S1 and S2 in session 2026/7, S1–S3 in 2027/8) and progress towards provisional or full Drama registration from 2028 onwards.
- Add existing skills and experience to the team and introduce new ideas and strategies as appropriate to our learners.
- Full GTCS registration for English.
- Willingness to teach BGE Drama as described and progress towards registration.
- Ability to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 scheme or undergo an update check; if spent 3 months or more outside the UK in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check is required.
Salary: £35,022 – £52,740
Hours:
35 per week
Post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
