Teacher of English (With BGE Drama)

Liberton High School is a non‑denominational secondary school with a roll of approximately 900 pupils, serving the local community in South East Edinburgh. The school is expanding, expecting a roll of around 1100 within the next four years, and will move into a new, purpose‑built Community Campus in Summer 2026.

Salary: £35,022 – £52,740

Hours:

35 per week

• Teach English within the Media and ESOL faculty, including curriculum development and assessment.
• Teach BGE Drama to S1 and S2 in session 2026/7, and S1‑S3 in 2027/8, with the aim of becoming provisionally or fully registered for Drama from 2028 onwards.
• Apply innovative, creative approaches to support pupils’ success.
• Collaborate with support staff and the leadership team to promote school values of readiness, respect, and responsibility.
• Participate in the PVG scheme and obtain necessary criminal record checks.

• Full GTCS registration for English.
• Willingness to teach BGE Drama and to pursue registration in Drama.
• Experience or understanding of the BGE curriculum and drama instruction.
• Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and supporting a diverse, inclusive workplace.

• This post is regulated work with children and protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Act 2007.
• Applicants must join the PVG scheme or undergo a PVG update check; if having spent 3 months or more outside the UK in the last five years, an overseas criminal record check is required.
• An unconditional offer and commencement are contingent upon satisfactory pre‑employment checks.
• Salaries are in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
