Senior Pupil Support Officer

Salary: £34,452 - £40,501 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional)

Hours:

30 per week, 39 weeks sessional

Working pattern:
Monday to Friday

Role Overview

At Kaimes School, we are committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive, ambitious learning environment for young people with additional support needs. We are looking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic Senior Pupil Support Officer who shares our commitment to relationships, inclusion and high-quality care and learning for every learner.

School Context

Kaimes School is a secondary special school located in the southeast of the City of Edinburgh that caters for 96 young people. Most of our learners have a diagnosis of Autism, and many have a range of other additional support needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the training, mentoring and induction of pupil support staff
  • Assist with GIRFEC processes and family liaison
  • Work collaboratively with a highly supportive staff team and contribute to the wider life of the school
  • Ensure consistent and compassionate support for learners with complex additional needs (desirable)
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience working with young people with complex additional needs is desirable
  • Will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo an update check
  • Will provide an Overseas Criminal Record Check if a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years
