Location: City of Edinburgh

Position Overview

Early Years Practitioner – Fixed term until 31/05/2027.

Location:

Fox Covert Primary School.

Remuneration and Working Hours

Salary: £30,188 – £34,452 (pro‑rated for part‑time and sessional).

Hours:

36 per week, 39 weeks sessional.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide early years education and care in accordance with good practice, policies of the Council, Education Department and Care Inspectorate.
  • Work as an effective member of a multi‑disciplinary or other team to promote a stimulating learning environment that balances education and care for children and young people.
  • Meet children’s individual needs and those of their families, enabling everyone to achieve their potential.
Requirements and Checks
  • Regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
  • Preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out of the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.
  • Unconditional offer of employment and commencement will be subject to the outcome of both pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
