Position: Active Schools Co-ordinator - Boroughmuir High School
Location: City of Edinburgh

Active Schools Co‑ordinator

Fixed term until 31 March 2027. Based at Boroughmuir High School.

Salary: £40,501–£47,639 (pro‑rata for part‑time).

Hours:

25.2 per week, 52 weeks.

Purpose of Job

The fundamental aim of the Active Schools Network is to offer children and young people the opportunities and motivation to adopt active, healthy lifestyles, now and into adulthood.

  • Develop an infrastructure to recruit, support and sustain a network of volunteers, coaches, leaders and teachers who deliver physical activity and sport before and after school, during lunchtimes and in the wider community.
Selected Responsibilities
  • Recruit, support and sustain volunteers, coaches, leaders and teachers to deliver physical activity and sport in schools and the community.
  • Collaborate with schools, local authorities and community partners to promote active lifestyles.
  • Monitor and evaluate the delivery of physical activity programmes and report on outcomes.
Qualifications and Conditions
  • Regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Must join the PVG Scheme or obtain a PVG Scheme update check.
  • Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check is required. The check must be provided.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating community or school‑based active‑lifestyles programmes is desirable.
