Language Teacher, Online Teaching
Tunga is a brand-new language school based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Our driving force is to make language learning more accessible. As our first Instructor, you’ll be using your in-depth knowledge of Japanese to bring the language to life for students in fresh and exciting ways.
You’ll have the chance to directly shape our innovative approach to language instruction. You’ll design the syllabus and teaching materials in partnership with the Managing Director, as well as teach the courses yourself in-person.
At Tunga, we want to leave behind dusty old textbooks and rote learning to focus on real student progress. Our classes are highly interactive, aimed above all else on building students’ confidence to take risks so they can propel their own learning forward. We also embrace teaching grammar, showing our students why it’s the key to their success and not something to be feared.
This is a part-time contract role, with potential to develop in time. You should be available at least 2 weekday evenings per week.
You must have the right to work in the UK. We are unable to sponsor visas.

Tunga is an Edinburgh-based language school founded by Max Naylor, a teacher with years of experience in Icelandic language and culture. Tunga grew out of his desire to share his teaching methods with a larger audience.
Tunga’s values are accessibility, simplicity, beauty and joy. These core tenets define how we design and deliver learning experiences to our students. As Tunga is still in its early stages, you can play a key role in shaping the company and its culture.
