Early Years Assistant – Granton Early Years Centre
Salary: £26,806 - £27,032 (pro-rata for part-time).
Hours:
up to 20 per week, 52 weeks.
Granton Early Years is a large, busy setting with capacity for 64 children at any one time, operating between 8am and 6pm, 52 weeks a year. We work in partnership with families to promote children’s learning and development, helping to close the attainment gap and ensure equity for all. Our setting offers a natural environment with outdoor spaces that back onto the local Community Garden, with the Community Centre situated next door.
We encourage our team to strive for high standards with support and development opportunities available at all levels.
We are now recruiting two Early Years Assistants to join our team on a permanent basis. The successful candidates will be passionate about supporting children to be confident, capable individuals and helping them to achieve their full potential. They will be an effective team member who contributes to the ethos and values of our setting through good communication and professional discussion, using their training and knowledge to demonstrate enthusiasm for Early Years.

- Post 1: 20 hours per week, Monday – Friday 9.30am – 1.30pm (4 hours each day)
- Post 2: 16 hours per week, Monday – Thursday 10.30am – 2.30pm (4 hours each day)

No formal qualification is required, but candidates should have a good basic education and be literate and numerate.
Early Years Assistants must apply for registration with SSSC within three months of being offered a post and must also obtain an SVQ2/SCQF Level 6 qualification within three years of starting the role.

Early Years Assistants will be subject to pre‑employment checks, including the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme or an update check. If you have spent three months or more outside the UK in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check is required. An unconditional offer of employment is contingent upon satisfactory outcomes of these checks.
