Teacher of Music – fixed term until 29/06/2027

Portobello High School, located in the East of Edinburgh, is a six‑year comprehensive with a student roll of over 1,500 pupils. Most of these students come from five associated primary schools:
Brunstane, Duddingston, Parsons Green, Royal High and Towerbank.

Salary: £35,022 – £52,740.

Working hours:

15.28 per week.

Role Overview

The Music department sits within the Expressive Arts faculty alongside Art & Design, Photography and Drama. You will teach a rich and varied curriculum that supports multiple learner pathways and future career aspirations, including:

  • S1‑S3 BGE classes
  • National Qualifications in Music and Music Technology
  • National Progression Award in Music Performing

Our provision delivers an engaging programme for pupils and provides performance opportunities through ensembles such as two wind bands, Jazz Band, String Orchestra, Folk Band, Guitar Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and two choirs. A dedicated team of ten instructors supervises over 230 pupils in IMS lessons.

Salary

Salary will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
