Learning Assistant in Professional Cookery

Edinburgh College are looking to recruit a resourceful and committed individual from a Professional Cookery and Hospitality background to fulfil the role of Learning Assistant within the Culinary Arts department.

This is an exciting and key role within the department, the Learning Assistant will be responsible for providing specialist support to teaching staff and students in Professional Kitchens, Restaurants and Cafes. The role is to work effectively as part of a wider team of Leaning Assistants whilst specifically supporting the delivery of our cookery and hospitality curriculum. Applicants should therefore have the relevant specialist cookery and hospitality knowledge and skills to ensure the best support for learning and teaching possible.

You must be educated to a minimum level of SCQF Level 5 (level 2 city and guilds/SVQ at SCQF
5) or equivalent in a related discipline. The successful applicant will be occupationally competent and possess a strong knowledge, practical skill and understanding of the hospitality industry and be current and up to date with industry trends and legislations. Applicants should have experience of working in commercial kitchens, restaurants or cafes be competent in using specialist equipment and be able to demonstrate the relevant skills required to play a key role in the everyday activities the team are involved in.

Additionally, you must have the ability to communicate and relate well with cross college staff, learners of different abilities working effectively as part of a team of Learning Assistants to support the wider department activities.
