Erskine Stewart Melville are currently recruiting for a Lead Teacher Support for Learning (Neurodiversity) to join the Senior School, Support for Learning Department on a Permanent basis from January 2027 (subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks). The role is full time, with a salary of £57,217. The role is based at ESM Senior School on the Queensferry Road site.

The purpose of the role is to champion inclusive practice and develop staff understanding of neurodiversity across the school. The Lead Teacher Support for Learning (Neurodiversity) will provide individual and strategic support to neurodivergent students and offer expert guidance to staff, families and the wider Wellbeing team. The postholder will play a key role in supporting referral and assessment pathways for Neurodiversity (such as, but not limited to) Autism and ADHD, ensuring the school’s response is child-centred and aligned with best practice.

• Design and deliver high-quality training and professional learning opportunities for ESM colleagues on neurodiversity
• Provide 1:1 support to neurodivergent learners where appropriate, including pastoral check-ins and guidance on self-advocacy and the navigation of school life.
• Provide advice on the physical school environment, including reasonable adjustments to learning settings, taking account of non-neurotypical perspectives and experiences.

The successful candidate must have General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) registration, or be eligible for registration and have a recognised teaching qualification. The post holder should have the ability to multitask and prioritise own workload with good attention to detail and should be able to nurture professional interpersonal relationships with staff and students.

ESM is unable to sponsor the employment of international workers in this role. International applicants will therefore be unable to apply for and secure a Skilled Worker visa. The successful candidate will only be able to take up this role if they can demonstrate an alternative right work in the UK.
