The University of Edinburgh invites applications from experienced practitioners for the post of Clinical Fellow in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Applied Social Sciences (CPASS).

This role combines clinical leadership, teaching and research within one of the UK's longest-established Counselling and Psychotherapy programmes, dating to the 1970s. The post-holder will play a key role at Hope Park Counselling Centre, the University’s COSCA-accredited training placement, which supports 40–50 trainee counsellors and around 120 clients weekly. The role also involves teaching, course organisation and dissertation supervision across our professional programmes, including the full‑time Master of Counselling and Doctor of Psychotherapy and Counselling.

Responsibilities

The post-holder will:

Support students on placement at Hope Park Counselling Centre, contributing to clinical governance and supervision, and hold a small clinical caseload

Deliver core and clinical skills teaching, and act as course organiser for one or more courses

Supervise, mark and moderate Masters dissertations and related assessments

Develop a personal programme of scholarship and research within CPASS

Person Specification

Candidates should be:

Qualified practitioners with a minimum of five years' experience within the Person-Centred or Psychodynamic tradition

Holders of professional accreditation (or eligibility) with COSCA, BACP, UKCP or equivalent

Holders of a postgraduate qualification in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Masters or Doctoral level

Experience of clinical governance, supervision or teaching in professional counselling education is desirable, as is a record of research or publication in the field.
