Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading District Heating company to recruit a Lead Commercial Gas Engineer to work across their assets in the London area.
The Lead Commercial Gas Engineer comes with a salary of up to 59,000 + company van + overtime.

Responsibilities and duties of the Lead Commercial Gas Engineer- Work under the direction of the Technical Manager to deliver high‑quality commercial gas maintenance and repair works.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on commercial gas boilers and associated plant in line with company schedules.
- Diagnose faults, repair, and reinstate commercial gas plant, including boilers, pumps, valves, and pipework.
- Respond to reactive call‑outs and participate in the on‑call rota to restore heat and resolve system failures.
- Act as a technical specialist across a range of commercial gas equipment manufacturers and plant configurations.
- Safely isolate mechanical and electrical systems prior to commencing works, ensuring full compliance with H&S requirements.
- Investigate root causes of plant failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Manage site‑based remedial and project works, including defining scope, coordinating tasks, and overseeing delivery.
- Maintain accurate and timely records within the CMMS, completing clear and detailed digital work orders.
- Support the Technical Manager by contributing to audits, RAMS reviews, toolbox talks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a Commercial Gas Engineer in a similar environment.
- Valid commercial gas qualifications, including Commercial Gas Registration, TPCP1, and BMP
1. - NVQ Level 3 in Gas / Plumbing and Gas, with Part P and Part G certification.
- Proven experience servicing and repairing commercial gas boilers from multiple manufacturers (e.g. Hoval, Hamworthy, Ideal, Buderus).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, including P&IDs and mechanical schematics, with basic electrical competency.
- Organised and self‑motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and pride in delivering work to a high standard.
- Positive, approachable, and confident communicator, comfortable engaging with colleagues, clients, and site teams.
- Open‑minded and solutions‑focused, with enthusiasm for innovation and improving the way energy systems are delivered.
- Salary starting at 50,000 - 59,000
