Job Title
Electronics Engineer
LocationEdinburgh - Hybrid (3+ days on site per week)

Salary£50,000 – £80,000 per annum, depending on experience
Responsibilities- Designing, commissioning and testing high‑speed digital electronics hardware, including PCAs for airborne radar products.
- Creating high‑quality and robust digital electronics designs.
- Documenting and recording deliverables.
- Supporting integration and verification activities at hardware and system level.
- Keeping designs under configuration control.
- Providing progress reports.
- Coordinating day‑to‑day technical activities and liaising closely with the lead engineer/digital hardware lead and other engineering disciplines.
- Degree or equivalent in Electronics Engineering or another STEM‑based subject.
- 1–3 years of experience designing high‑speed digital electronics using the latest FPGA and/or microprocessor devices and high‑speed interconnect technology.
- Experience with schematic capture using Mentor Graphics (Siemens EDA) DxDesigner or similar tools.
- Experience with high‑speed serial communication interfaces/protocols (e.g. PCIe, Ethernet/IEEE
802.3, SPI, I2C) and high‑speed bus architectures (e.g. DDR3/4). - Proficiency in high‑speed digital design techniques such as signal termination, controlled impedance, matched length tracking, ground/power planes and decoupling.
- Functional simulation and timing analysis/constraints at circuit level.
- Experience with PCB layout and close collaboration with PCB layout engineers on high‑speed digital designs.
- Hands‑on experience integrating hardware, firmware and software on FPGA and microprocessor‑based PCAs.
- Experience debugging and testing new hardware designs.
- Experience of the full hardware design lifecycle and presenting designs for peer and formal design reviews.
- Self‑motivated, with an aptitude for problem solving and for driving difficult issues to conclusion.
- Experience in writing technical reports/documentation.
- UK citizenship is mandatory to clear background checks and obtain SC clearance.
- Current valid SC clearance would be an advantage.
