Location: City of Edinburgh

A well-established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering a wide range of projects across Scotland is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their team, covering works across the East of Scotland.

East of Scotland (multi‑site role)

The Role as Project Manager

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading the successful delivery of civil engineering projects from pre‑construction through to completion. This hands‑on role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, and a thorough understanding of contract management.

  • Managing projects from initial enquiry through to final handover.
  • Overseeing planning, design coordination, procurement and site delivery.
  • Leading and managing site teams, including Site Managers and Supervisors.
  • Ensuring all works are delivered in line with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Producing and maintaining project documentation, programmes and HSQE plans.
  • Managing budgets, cost control and overall project performance.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners.
  • Administering contracts with a strong focus on NEC forms of contract, including compensation events, early warnings and change management.
  • Working closely with commercial teams to ensure projects remain financially viable and compliant.
  • Carrying out regular site inspections, audits and progress reviews.
  • Supporting and mentoring team members to drive performance and development.
About You
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager within civil engineering.
  • Strong NEC contract knowledge and commercial awareness (essential).
  • Demonstrable experience delivering infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders effectively.
  • SMSTS certification (essential).
  • CSCS card (essential).
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Proactive and solutions‑focused approach to project delivery.
