Talent is delighted to be partnering with a growing and highly respected Building Services Consultancy seeking a Senior Energy Modeller to join its Edinburgh team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Building Performance professional who is passionate about sustainable design, low‑carbon buildings and delivering meaningful environmental impact through innovative engineering solutions.

Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in helping clients design, analyse and optimise building performance across a diverse range of projects. From early‑stage design advice through to detailed performance analysis, you will have the opportunity to influence how buildings perform, consume energy and contribute towards net zero targets.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Energy Modeller, you will be responsible for delivering detailed building performance analysis and energy modelling studies that help shape sustainable, high‑performing developments.

You will work closely with mechanical, electrical and sustainability specialists, providing technical expertise that influences design decisions and supports clients in achieving ambitious energy and carbon reduction objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead dynamic simulation modelling and building performance analysis using IES VE.
  • Undertake overheating assessments in accordance with CIBSE TM59.
  • Carry out operational energy modelling in line with CIBSE TM54.
  • Support compliance assessments including Part L, SAP and SBEM.
  • Develop passive design strategies including building orientation, solar shading and natural ventilation.
  • Analyse thermal performance, fabric efficiency, heat loss and thermal bridging.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to optimise building performance.
  • Support clients in achieving energy efficiency, sustainability and net zero objectives.
  • Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to clients and project teams.
What We’re Looking For

We are keen to speak with candidates who have:

  • Strong experience using IES VE.
  • Building thermal performance and energy modelling experience.
  • Dynamic Simulation Modelling (DSM) expertise.
  • Knowledge of overheating assessments and operational energy modelling.
  • Experience with Part L, SAP and SBEM compliance assessments.
  • Understanding of HVAC systems and energy optimisation strategies.
  • Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and energy performance standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
