Are you a recent Planning graduate looking to take the next step in your career? Or perhaps you've already gained 6-24 months of planning experience and are looking to join a supportive, growing consultancy where you'll have genuine opportunities to develop?
We're working with a well-established and respected planning consultancy in Edinburgh that is looking to appoint a Graduate Town Planner to join its expanding team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced Chartered Planners on a broad range of residential, commercial, rural and mixed-use projects across Scotland, gaining hands-on experience from day one.
The Role
As a Graduate Town Planner, you'll support senior planners throughout the planning process, including:
Preparing planning applications and supporting documentation.
Undertaking planning policy research and site appraisals.
Liaising with local authorities, clients and consultants.
Assisting with planning appeals and representations.
Supporting project delivery across a varied portfolio of developments.
You'll receive ongoing mentoring and professional development, with full support towards achieving MRTPI status.
About You
We're keen to hear from candidates who have:
A degree (or postgraduate qualification) in Town Planning or a related RTPI-accredited discipline.
Around 6 months to 2 years' planning experience (public or private sector), although exceptional graduates will also be considered.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
A proactive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for planning.
A full UK driving licence is advantageous but not essential.
Candidates based in or around Edinburgh will be particularly well suited, given the collaborative nature of the role and regular office-based mentoring.
What's on Offer
Competitive salary.
Support towards MRTPI qualification.
Ongoing training and career development.
Exposure to a diverse and interesting project portfolio.
Friendly, collaborative team environment.
Clear progression opportunities within a growing consultancy.
Flexible working arrangements and an excellent work-life balance.
If you're looking to build your planning career with a consultancy that genuinely invests in its people and offers exposure to high-quality projects across Scotland, we'd love to hear from you.
