Location: City of Edinburgh

We are seeking a Maritime Structural Engineer to support major UK and international clients in the maritime, defence, energy, and transport sectors. The role will involve designing and inspecting maritime infrastructure such as quay walls, jetties, breakwaters, ferry terminals and shipyards.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the development of detailed design solutions for maritime infrastructure and facilities.
  • Carry out structural design and assessment calculations, both manually and using software such as STAAD Pro and ANSYS.
  • Take an active role in site-based structural inspections and provide design coordination services for works on site.
  • Develop and produce client deliverables such as design reports, feasibility reports, inspection reports and calculation packages.
  • Take a lead role in the preparation of contract documents, bills of quantities and specifications.
  • Provide technical expertise to support the planning, management and delivery of projects using the latest BIM and other collaborative software, protocols and processes.
  • Proactively identify and engage with early warning issues, manage change requests and contribute to compensation events.
  • Provide technical and professional guidance, support and development to colleagues and peers.
Qualifications
  • Working towards or already having Chartered status.
  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience in the design and engineering of maritime structures.
  • Sound knowledge of British and international standards and/or Eurocodes.
  • Established knowledge of structural theory and strong analytical skills.
  • Proven problem‑solving ability.
  • Collaborative approach to working with stakeholders at all levels, including internal teams, JV partners and clients.
  • Proven track record of delivering maritime projects and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
