This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced wastewater modeller to take a leading role in the technical delivery of a varied programme of urban drainage and hydraulic modelling projects.
The successful candidate will work across a range of challenging and technically interesting schemes, with the opportunity to develop their expertise, lead project delivery and contribute to the development of less experienced modellers.
The role is particularly suited to someone with strong Info Works ICM experience who is looking for increased technical responsibility, project leadership and, at Principal level, the opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of the wider team.
The Role
Working as part of an established urban drainage modelling team, responsibilities will include:
Leading the technical delivery of wastewater and urban drainage modelling projects.
Building, verifying and developing integrated catchment models using Info Works ICM.
Undertaking hydraulic modelling to support feasibility studies, option development and solution design.
Managing technical deliverables, project milestones, quality assurance and agreed methodologies.
Working directly with clients and their technical teams to understand requirements and deliver appropriate modelling solutions.
Providing technical guidance, mentoring and training to junior and developing modellers.
Supporting the development of improved modelling processes, methodologies and technical tools.
Contributing to projects across both the public and private sectors.
Managing project costs, resources and programmes in line with agreed deliverables.
Taking responsibility for technical quality and ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard.
The wider project portfolio may include:
Integrated catchment modelling
Wastewater network modelling
Urban drainage studies
Surface water management
Development impact assessments
Model build and verification
Feasibility and option appraisal
Solution development and design
About You
The successful candidate will have:
Strong experience in wastewater / urban drainage hydraulic modelling.
Proven experience building and verifying integrated catchment models using Info Works ICM.
Strong practical experience with Info Works ICM hydraulic modelling software.
Experience using GIS packages such as ArcGIS, Map Info or equivalent.
A track record of mentoring and supporting less experienced modellers.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
The ability to manage technical delivery independently and take ownership of project outcomes.
For Principal-level appointments, candidates should also demonstrate:
Experience leading urban drainage modelling projects or technical disciplines.
Experience managing modelling teams and project resources.
Commercial awareness, including project financial management.
An understanding of the UK water market and an interest in business development and client development.
Chartered status with an appropriate professional institution such as ICE or CIWEM, or be close to achieving chartership.
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
Water quality modelling experience.
Experience undertaking UPM studies.
Broader experience across wastewater and urban drainage modelling.
Experience developing innovative modelling approaches or technical tools.
Experience contributing to bids, proposals or business development activities.
Experience working across multidisciplinary engineering and environmental projects.
Why Apply?
This is an opportunity to join an established consultancy with a strong pipeline of water and environmental projects and a collaborative technical culture.
The successful candidate will benefit from:
A varied programme of technically challenging urban drainage projects.
Opportunities to work with experienced hydraulic modelling professionals.
Clear opportunities for progression towards greater technical and project leadership responsibility.
Support for professional development and chartership.
Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid working.
Flexible start and finish times.
Opportunities to mentor and develop junior colleagues.
Exposure to both public and private sector clients.
A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
