Senior Analog IC Design Engineer – Semiconductor – Edinburgh, Scotland (Hybrid)

An established semiconductor company is seeking a Senior Analog IC Design Engineer to join its growing IC design team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation low-power analog and mixed-signal semiconductor solutions, taking designs from concept through to silicon within a collaborative and technically driven environment.

What you'll do as a Senior Analog IC Design Engineer:
  • Design and develop high-performance analog and mixed-signal ICs from specification and architecture through transistor-level implementation, verification and production.
  • Design and optimise low-power CMOS analog circuits for advanced semiconductor applications.
  • Perform system-level modelling and analysis using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink and Spectre.
  • Carry out transistor-level circuit design, simulation and optimisation to achieve demanding performance, power and area targets.
  • Work closely with layout engineers to support floor planning, layout implementation and post-layout verification.
  • Perform post-layout simulations and drive design improvements to ensure robust silicon performance.
  • Support silicon bring-up, laboratory validation, characterisation and debugging activities.
What you'll bring as a Senior Analog IC Design Engineer:
  • Degree (BSc, MEng, MSc or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in analog CMOS IC design within the semiconductor industry.
  • Strong understanding of analog IC design methodologies, including architecture definition, transistor-level circuit design and chip integration.
  • Experience designing low-power, high-performance analog circuits in advanced CMOS technologies.
  • Knowledge of power management circuit design, including inductive and/or capacitive power converters.
  • Understanding of control theory and its application to analog circuit design.
  • Experience using industry-standard simulation and modelling tools such as Cadence Spectre, MATLAB, Simulink or LTspice.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience supporting silicon validation, characterisation and debug.
