Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Process Engineer in our Edinburgh office, where you will become part of Stantec’s national Process Engineering discipline.

Stantec has a team of over 90 Process Engineers working across offices throughout the UK, delivering projects through an integrated national network while maintaining strong local client relationships. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your technical skills within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, supporting projects that address some of the water sector’s most important challenges. You will gain exposure to clean water and wastewater process engineering, working alongside experienced specialists on projects that improve treatment capacity, water quality, environmental performance and long‑term resilience.

About

The Role

As a Graduate Process Engineer, you will support the delivery of process engineering solutions for a range of water sector clients. Your work may include supporting storm overflow improvement schemes, helping assess and enhance treatment capacity, and contributing to projects responding to new WINEP drivers relating to phosphorus, ammonia and nitrogen removal.

You may also support bathing water and shellfish water quality improvement projects, clean water treatment works optimisation and upgrade schemes, and the development of water reuse opportunities.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating water and wastewater quality data.

  • Undertaking process calculations, asset sizing and mass balance development.

  • Developing process flow diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs.

  • Preparing technical reports, specifications and presentations.

  • Attending meetings with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary design teams.

We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation and providing structured on-the-job training. The applicable professional qualification route for this role is IChemE.
