About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Fire Engineer to join our team and bring expertise to a range of complex, high‑profile projects. This hybrid role can be based in Edinburgh, Manchester, Bath or London.

Key Duties
  • Project manage fire engineering projects with the team.
  • Inform and support building design aspirations, functionality and architectural form throughout the design process.
  • Engage in client care and general consultancy.
  • Hold responsibility for the financial performance of projects, including invoicing and monitoring.
  • Represent Buro Happold Fire Engineering at design team meetings, both internally and externally.
  • Identify and specify appropriate fixed fire protection systems such as automatic fire detection and/or suppression.
  • Carry out and review fire engineering calculations, from simple hand calculations to complex 3D computational modelling (CFD experience welcomed but not essential).
Your Skills & Experience
  • Experience as a lead fire engineer on projects.
  • Higher education qualification in engineering or a fire‑safety related subject.
  • Demonstrable professional experience delivering fire and life safety designs and fire‑engineered solutions for UK‑based projects.
  • Track record of gaining agreement for prescriptive and performance‑based design solutions from approving authorities.
