This is a highly hands-on position covering electronics assembly, prototype build, wiring, testing, equipment maintenance and laboratory management.

You’ll be working closely with engineers across different disciplines, helping turn designs into working hardware and ensuring the equipment, components and processes needed to support development are all in place.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Building and assembling electronic prototypes and test equipment from drawings, BOMs and technical documentation.
  • Carrying out fine-pitch hand soldering, PCB assembly and board rework.
  • Setting up and operating small-scale SMD pick-and-place equipment.
  • Wiring electronic assemblies, prototypes and test rigs.
  • Carrying out basic testing and troubleshooting of assembled hardware.
  • Sourcing and ordering components, tools and equipment required for prototype development.
  • Managing component and equipment inventory.

  • Helping develop and improve laboratory processes and procedures.
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with relevant health and safety procedures.
  • Working closely with engineers to identify and resolve technical issues.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with strong practical electronics experience who enjoys working hands-on with hardware.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Significant industry experience within electronics, electrical engineering, manufacturing or a similar technical environment.
  • Strong hand-soldering and PCB rework skills, including fine-pitch components.
  • Experience reading assembly drawings, BOMs and technical documentation.
  • Experience operating small-scale pick-and-place equipment, or the ability to learn how to programme and operate it.
  • Experience wiring electronic systems, prototypes or test equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to assembly and testing.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • The ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation.
