Senior Geotechnical Engineer

A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their established team in Edinburgh, working on a range of major renewable energy and infrastructure projects across the UK.
This is a varied role covering both technical delivery and project management, with opportunities to work across wind, solar, battery energy storage and associated energy infrastructure.
The Role
- Leading geotechnical inputs into renewable energy projects from feasibility through to detailed design
- Reviewing and interpreting ground investigation data and developing ground models
- Producing and reviewing geotechnical reports, specifications and technical documentation
- Geotechnical design including foundations, earthworks, slopes and access tracks
- Supporting foundation assessments for wind turbines and other renewable infrastructure
- Geotechnical assessment of cut and fill, retaining structures and temporary works
- Planning and managing ground investigation programmes
- Providing technical input to multidisciplinary project teams
- Managing projects, budgets, programmes and client relationships
- Liaising with contractors, clients and other technical specialists
- Mentoring and supporting junior and graduate engineers
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline
- Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status
- Strong consultancy experience within geotechnical engineering
- Experience delivering geotechnical projects from investigation through to design
- Good understanding of UK ground conditions and relevant design standards
- Experience with geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, WALLAP or GEO5 would be beneficial
- Strong technical report writing and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
